And the Closet Door Opens…

Blackness…everything was gone except the blackness of the closet space. Had I imagined the whole thing? Then I saw them…the eyes! The eyelids pulled back slowly, allowing the egg-shaped beacons to be revealed from the bottom up. The irises were green like grass, with pupils shaped like that of the bullfrog I’d seen in the pond behind my house just the other day.

Suddenly the whole room shook as the monster took a thunderous step forward and its nose came into the view of the moonlight from my window. It was pudgy, with three warts on the right side, each with a single hair protruding out.

Another step…

This time I took a step back too. Good golly was it tall! I then noticed the horns, two of them growing out from either side of its head and curling up and around like a pigs tail. It took another step, and another. Its long, stringy arms swung with each footstep and seemed to have a yellow glow to them. They too were covered in tiny little warts but with big, thick hairs growing out of each. Its legs, twice as thick as its arms but only half as long, moved like the monster was marching to a tune it was particularly fond of. Its legs were rough and blue, as if its skin was made out of blue jeans. Its feet were wide and flat, like it had large lily pads stuck to the bottom of its shoes…geez, it must wear size 18 quadruple wides!

Another step…

I too took another step back, right onto my favorite soccer ball. Back I went, flipping over my toy chest and ending upside down on the floor. I looked up at the monster again to see it smiling…then I realized that I was upside down and, therefore, so was its smile. As its thin lips pulled away, the moonlight again revealed its complete set of shiny, yet very pointy teeth, as if it had a shark for a dentist.
Oh boy, this is not good…
